One person was severely injured, and another was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Police suspected the driver was drugged after he caused a four-vehicle crash in the Clairemont neighborhood of San Diego.
The accident happened at 12:54 p.m. on Monday on Balboa Avenue and Charger Boulevard. A fifty-nine-year-old man was driving a Nissan Frontier westbound on Balboa and crashed the center median and crossed into approaching traffic. The vehicle hit a Jeep Patriot driven by a thirty-three-year-old woman. The Jeep Patriot then slammed a Honda Civic and a Jeep Cherokee.
The woman who drove the Jeep Patriot ended up with a broken leg, and her passenger complained of pain. No other driver or passenger was seriously injured in the crash.
The man who drove the Nissan Frontier was arrested at the scene for causing an accident while driving under the influence of drugs.
The accident caused traffic to back up on Balboa for more than an hour and a half.
