Last week, a 29-year old woman driving a Chevy Malibu was broadsided by a Volkswagen near El Cajon. Apparently, the driver of the Volkswagen ran a red light and crashed into the Malibu at the intersection of Peerless and Pepper streets. The woman was trapped in her car after the crash.
The accident was so serious that the woman in the Malibu was trapped inside her car. Firefighters came to the scene and had to force the car open to rescue the woman. She was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
The driver of the other car was also taken to the hospital, but their injuries are believed to have been minimal.
The scary thing about this crash is that it took place right near an elementary school. One can only imagine how much more tragic this crash could have been. Thankfully. There were no children crossing the street at the time of the accident.
The woman who had been rescued from her car later died at the hospital. Authorities say that the investigation is still ongoing and they have not yet determined who was at fault. One would imagine that there are videos or recordings from the intersection. Hopefully, this will give the investigators insight into what really happened last week at the intersection of Pepper and Peerless.
